Your Brand Photography - Make The Greatest Impression
You will have heard this a thousand times but an image really is worth a thousand words.
Imagery has never been more important for your brand to convey your message in the most effective and efficient way so you truly connect and resonate with your people. If your photos are sub-standard, it could very easily make your brand look mediocre and careless so having great imagery should always be at the top of your list of priorities. Why?
It’s been scientifically proven that it only takes 0.01 seconds to get a sense of something from seeing it. What emotions do you want to evoke? First impressions really do count!
We remember 80% of what we see as opposed to 20% of what we read
Unsurprisingly then, the average person only reads about 20% of text on a website. Keep the more lengthy copy to blogs only
That’s not mention we’re also on information overload - we receive 5 times more information today than we did in 1986. 5 times!!! That’s a lot and also not at all shocking with the digital marketing tools we now have in the palm of our hand. With a milli-second to make a good impression, you want to ensure it’s an excellent one. When you last discovered a brand, did you find them on Instagram? Or did you find them and then search for them on Instagram? Chances are you did one of the two and made a call as to whether you wanted to stick around or not.
Think about a brand, any brand. You visualise it and it evokes a feeling. An emotion. It’s this emotion that you naturally want it to always be a positive one. It’s the image you saw, that photo, those colours – the more these visual elements appeal to our senses, the greater the connection we feel.
The success of your business isn’t of course founded on imagery alone, but it’s up there with one of the many important aspects of building your brand. So, how can we ensure we’re creating a positive sense of emotional connection? Here are our 3 top tips:
1. Stand out photography
This has the greatest ability to add a perceived value to your business. If your photography is of poor quality and doesn’t reflect the great work you do then your audience will have a much harder time getting on board. It’s safe to say many of us have heightened cravings for individual brand authenticity these days. Be unique and do something different!
2. Consistency, consistently
If you’re imagery is similar and of beautiful, high quality over all of your platforms; from your website, social channels, emails, marketing collateral etc then you’re one step further to helping make the connections to your brand easier so your audience recognises you and makes their associations.
What’s would you say is the defining personality of your business? Think of some words to describe it - do they reflect the images you’re looking at? If not, find a photographer that really aligns with your brand identity to do a stellar job of ensuring your imagery accurately reflects what you do.
It’s always a useful exercise to look at your photography and give it a fresh pair of eyes every so often. Are your photos the very, very best that they can be? If not, why not? There are so many solutions to suit a variety of budgets so it’s always possible to find the right one for your business.
